Starting in May of 2018, HME proud to announce we are going to be taking on the Biomedical Equipment for the Ministry of Children and Families “MCFD”. The Biomedical program will assist the MCFD in recycling Biomedical equipment for families across BC. The Biomedical program is part of the CMEDS program but has separate procedures as set out below.
The MCFD is responsible for approving all Biomedical loans from the program, as well as qualifying families to access the equipment.
HME is responsible for delivering or couriering approved loans of Biomedical equipment, handling the returns of equipment, and processing approved repair requests from MCFD.
To request Biomedical equipment, please contact MCFD. HME will only arrange a delivery of Biomedical equipment with directions from MCFD directly.
Requests for CMEDS Biomedical equipment are to be sent to MCFD as normal. (this process and forms have not changed)
Please fill in these forms and submit via fax or email to the MCFD on the contact information noted on the forms.
For further information on how to request biomedical equipment, please consult MCFD, click here.
Please see AHP program outlining Biomedical program and requirements.
In the event that your Biomedical equipment is not working, please contact HME. The Biomedical program is operated out of HME Richmond, please call us at (604) 821-0075. You may also fill in a repair form at the link below and email to: CMEDSTech@hmebc.com.
HME will review and then will request MCFD to authorize HME to send up a replacement unit (if available from the Biomedical recycling pool) and HME will arrange for the non-functioning unit to be returned. From there, HME will repair and will put back into the pool the repaired unit. In the event a unit is not available from the recycling pool, MCFD will send the replacement unit. Please note that HME can only change out equipment. At-home Biomedical repairs are not done for safety reasons.
Please note that the Biomedical program does not operate an emergency service. Requests will be handled Monday–Friday from 8am-4:30pm. We are closed all statutory holidays and weekend service is not available.
