Just an FYI we made some basic changes to the CMEDS forms.
Added the text surrounding the birthdate and eligibility to ensure child has not actually aged out of the system.
Added some terminology surrounding timing if parts are ordered, just to help manage expectations with client/OT.
Added the need for serial # and approx. age of equipment (these points help qualify if equipment is eligible, i.e. making sure it’s the item received from MCFD
Created new CMEDS Equipment Tag!
Based off feedback we have received from therapists/clients/schools regarding the CMEDS Program we have created a new CMEDS Equipment Tag. This was created to ensure all parties involved are aware of the next steps when it comes to equipment.
This will hope to address issues such as:
HME has been to site to repair equipment. No one was available (equipment left in room). When client goes back, equipment is repaired, but family not sure if anything else is needed
HME tech on site with family, and states “need to order parts” – Family unsure of next steps and follow up
From our end, we have been working on solutions to this, as there is many stakeholders, and often clients are not home or available for us to go through what we have done. We
totally appreciate the need for families and therapists to be kept updated, and hope this will keep everyone informed on the status of their equipment.
Please let us know if you have any suggestions or feedback on how to improve any processes in the CMEDS Program. Please email info@hmebc.com
HME was a proud accessibility sponsor for the 14th Annual Surrey International Children’s Festival
(from May 24th- May 26th 2018.)
The 14th Annual Surrey International Children’s Festival inspires young hearts and minds to greater possibilities, and celebrates our rich and diverse cultural heritage through performing and visual arts experiences.
Working with the Centre for Child Development, an Accessible Program Guide was available to help families navigate the activities and performances at the Festival by Surrey Board Of Trade. HME was pleased to offer a lifting system and change table to assist families with special needs children to have a safe and private environment to provide personal care.
Our Pediatric Seating and Mobility Consultant, Prerna Thapar organized and assisted with the setup of this accessible tent.
