February 19, 2021 (NANAIMO, B.C.) – HME, British Columbia’s award-winning – and fastest-growing – home-medical equipment provider proudly announces the opening of a new 9,000 sq. ft. business and showroom in Vancouver Island’s Hub City.
HME Nanaimo is located in the Garry Oak Park business centre in the city’s Central Nanaimo neighbourhood. The business address is 1885 Boxwood Road (units 107, 108, and 109) – due north of East Wellington Road, between Bowen Road and the Vancouver Island Highway.
Graham Plant, HME’s Vancouver Island Sales Manager, is excited to oversee the company’s latest expansion.
“HME Nanaimo will provide greatly-improved service for our long-standing clients in the Central Island area,” he said. “Plus, the new location makes it easy to expand our scope of operations to nearby communities such as Duncan and Ladysmith to the south, and Courtenay and Comox to the north.”
Plant further noted that the company – originally known as HealthLinc Medical Equipment (HME) – recently has seen significant growth across the region in its pediatric business.
“We’ve been serving a growing number of pediatric clients over the last several years,” he said. “Together with our substantial and expanding adult-client market, HME is well-positioned to provide a wide array of products and services in and around the Hub City.”
HME started in Richmond, B.C., in 2012 as a small home medical dealer. Today, as the province’s largest independent home medical dealer, HME offers services across the entire Lower Mainland, plus the southern half o Vancouver Island.
In 2014, HME opened a new location in downtown Victoria, and then in 2018 relocated to its current 14,000 sq. ft. facility in Colwood.
“The Central Island is home to a sizeable number of HME’s rental clients – as well as pediatric patients,” said the company’s Pediatric Manager, Michelle Harvey. “In concert with our Victoria location, the new Nanaimo facility will ensure that we can provide exceptional service to clients across most, if not all, of the Island.”
She added: “It’s been very satisfying to see HME’s business grow on Vancouver Island. We truly enjoy working with our clients, and now through our ‘HME Giving Back Foundation,’ we believe that we’re really connecting with the communities in which we live and serve.”
The new HME Nanaimo facility features a large showroom where a vast range of home medical equipment and mobility devices will be displayed and includes private fitting rooms for clients’ comfort and convenience. The location also has a large warehouse, a distribution centre, and business offices.
“Surprisingly, HME Victoria has outgrown our relatively-new 14,000 sq. ft. facility in Colwood,” said Cameron Fleming, the company’s President of Operations.
“And that means our new HME Nanaimo site will allow us to significantly increase our stock, our staff and services to Vancouver Island clients. We’re thrilled to be announcing this expansion – and looking forward to meeting new clients in the Hub City and the Central Island.”
Fleming also said that HME intends to add one additional location in 2021. At present, the company employs more than 85 full-time staff working in Nanaimo, Victoria, Surrey and Richmond.
