The Ministry of Children and Family Development and HME have been fielding questions and are making some exciting changes to CMEDS program effective immediately. These changes are based on client and therapist feedback, with hopes of making the program better for all users. For current and up to date information on the program please click on the CMEDS.
Key changes include:
A CMEDs equipment listing will be uploaded on the HME website. This listing shows the equipment on hand in Richmond at a point in time. Therapists and families can use this listing to see available equipment, however, keep in mind the equipment moves quickly, so new pieces may have arrived or pieces departed to families. Therapists will need to send in their loan request document as normal, this process has not changed, then equipment can be reviewed. This listing will be updated quarterly. Families, as well as therapists, can now request servicing on equipment over 2 years old, see updated website – here – click on the ‘HME CMEDS Program’ tab and fill out the ‘CMEDS Repair Request Form’ pdf. All of the forms on our website are fillable PDF’s and can be filled out online (to reduce transcription errors). We recommend saving the blank PDF files to your computer and using this copy to fill out the forms per individual and send in. Although we can accept faxes, we recommend emailing the forms in.
HME is going to launch a new exciting “CMEDS newsletter”. In this newsletter we will feature key products available in pool as well as unique pieces. The newsletter will also include program updates and changes and explain new features to our website. This separate sign up ensures that no advertising will be received or included in the emails. We suggest that therapists and families sign up for this newsletter. Please email admin@hmebc.com to sign up for the monthly CMEDS Newsletter. Therapists can now request to make an appointment to view equipment in lower mainland depot (Richmond). This is only for therapists by appointment only. Please note equipment may be viewed, but may not be marked/set aside (must request through normal process to ensure fairness and access of equipment for families across BC). HME is building an online centre to find equipment user manuals. This ‘green’ electronic database will house manuals to allow for easy access to product information. This database of manuals will be built out over next year (2018).
CMEDS equipment may now be returned at our South Surrey depot (in addition to our Richmond location). Equipment can be dropped off at either location (Richmond/Surrey), or you can request a pickup using the form: ‘CMEDS Equipment Return’ form on HME CMEDS Program Page. Both families and therapists can request for an equipment return using the form.
