July 24, 2024 (RICHMOND, B.C.) – HME Home Health is excited to announce the launching of the new Paraglide Repositioning System in B.C. The innovative Paraglide, manufactured by MacKenzie Healthcare Technology, is an automated repositioning system for wheelchair users that changes how individuals are repositioned in wheelchairs in homes, hospitals, and care facilities.
“HME is committed to bringing high-quality, patient solutions to the market,” said Robert Boscacci, CEO and Co-Founder. “Having seen the success of the Paraglide, which first launched in Eastern Canada with hundreds of units sold in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, we wanted to bring innovative product to our clients in B.C.”
Boscacci continued, “As part of our ongoing partnership with HME Ontario and Harding Medical, we are thrilled to have the exclusive distribution of the Paraglide as part of our growing catalogue of products.”
Cameron Fleming, CIIO and Co-Founder, said, “As B.C.’s largest independent equipment provider, we are committed to supporting other Canadian companies. The Paraglide is a great example of a Canadian innovation success story, being developed and completely manufactured in Canada.”
“The Paraglide offers clients the ability to reposition themselves from a slouched position with a touch of a button,” said HME’s COO and leader of the Clinical Development Team, Michelle Harvey. “The ability for the Paraglide to offer end-users independence, safety, and dignity is paramount in providing high-quality care.”
“The paraglide eliminates the risk of caregiver injury, reduces costs and increases productivity, and monitors the level of care,” Harvey said.
HME’s Regional Sales Manager, Brian Quach, shared the market response to the Paraglide. “We’ve witnessed first-hand how monumental the Paraglide will be in the B.C. marketplace. We’ve seen strong interest from the first tradeshows at which we’ve showcased the Paraglide.”
“HME has demo units and stock available to meet the market’s demand,” Quach continued.
The Paraglide is an easy-to-use device that attaches to a wheelchair and will safely and independently reposition a person from a slouched position to a properly seated upright position at the touch of a button.
Starting from a single operation in B.C.’s Lower Mainland a decade ago, HME has expanded aggressively across the province in recent years and today has seven locations and over 75,000 sq ft. of office and warehouse in Richmond, Victoria, Surrey, Nanaimo, North Vancouver, and Kelowna.
The company’s workforce is comprised of over 120 highly-trained professionals, technicians, and support staff.
