Manufacturers recommend that slings be used for a maximum of 3-5 years before being replaces for safe usage. Some medical equipment dealers offer sling trade-in promotions to support-safe moving and handling practices.

The lifetime of a sling depends on:

• Amount of usage
• type of sling/fabric
• weight of user
• proper maintenance and cleaning

Know how to read a Sling Label

Sling Recommendations:

• replace every 3-5 years
• perform sling integrity test every 6 months (sling fails if: the label serial number can no longer be seen or if there are visible signs of damage to any of the sling’s parts)
• Request your medical equipment dealers to offer trade-in incentives
• if a sling is altered, warranty is not valid
• follow proper cleaning protocol’s for each sling type
