The ALS Society of BC is dedicated to providing direct support to ALS patients, along with their families and caregivers, to ensure the best quality of life possible while living with ALS. Through supporting research, we are committed to finding the cause of, and cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). As a provincial partner of the ALS Society of BC, HME processes orders for the the equipment loan program and inventory on behalf of the ALS Society of BC.
ALS Equipment Loan Process
Prescribing therapists must request loans using the ALS Equipment Portal. If you are a new therapist and need access, email equipmentloan@alsbc.ca for information. If you are an ALS Patient, you must get your therapist to access the program. All loans must be handled by a therapist (prescription). HME as the subcontractor of ALS will fill orders once ALS sends the forms to HME. HME cannot process any requests without this. Each loan request must have a completed form or portal form done.
ALS Equipment Returns
For ALS equipment returns, please complete the attached forms and send them to equipmentloan@alsbc.ca. Please note only certain equipment is returned to the pool (due to high costs to return the equipment, a lot of equipment is recycled or disposed of by the client after use).

For ALS equipment needing repairs, please contact equipmentloan@alsbc.ca. The equipment repair form must be completed. HME can only repair equipment as approved, and ALS needs to be contacted first. HME cannot process adjustments or repairs unless an instruction is received by ALS.
